Discover Xàtiva and Bocairent, two of the most beautiful and historic towns in the Valencian Community, on a day trip that combines history, medieval architecture, stunning landscapes, and local culture.
The experience begins in Xàtiva, one of the most fascinating towns near Valencia and the birthplace of the powerful Borgia family, which produced two popes during the Renaissance. The city is also known as one of the first European centres of paper manufacturing and education, a tradition dating back to the 12th century. Its main highlight is the impressive Xàtiva Castle, considered one of the Seven Wonders of Valencia. Perched on the mountain overlooking the city, this spectacular fortress has witnessed centuries of battles and offers breathtaking panoramic views. Despite its Iberian and Roman origins, much of the castle’s current structure is of Islamic and Gothic origin.
The journey continues to Bocairent, a charming medieval village nestled in the Sierra de Mariola Natural Park. Often called “Little Tuscany”, Bocairent is famous for its narrow cobbled streets, whitewashed houses, and labyrinth-like old town, which has been declared a Historic-Artistic Site. The village is full of history and authentic Mediterranean charm, making it one of the most beautiful destinations in the province of Valencia.
One of Bocairent’s most unique attractions is Les Covetes dels Moros, a fascinating group of caves carved directly into the mountain rock. Visiting these ancient caves is a fun and unforgettable experience that allows you to discover one of the most iconic and mysterious landmarks of the region.
