Two of Spain's most beautiful and attractive villages
Saturday 25/04
Altea and Guadalest

Altea and Guadalest are two of the most iconic destinations on the Costa Blanca, combining sea, mountains, history, and unique landscapes in a single experience.

Altea charms visitors with its whitewashed old town overlooking the Mediterranean, narrow stone streets, and the emblematic Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Consuelo, one of the most recognisable landmarks on the coastline.

Guadalest, on the other hand, is a medieval village set in the mountains of Alicante, accessible through a tunnel carved into the rock and dominated by ancient Muslim-origin fortresses, including the Castle of San José.

Both locations offer breathtaking views, rich historical heritage, and an authentic atmosphere, making them one of the most complete day trips from Valencia.

ALTEA

Altea is one of the most beautiful villages in Spain’s Mediterranean coast, famous for its whitewashed old town overlooking the sea. Its narrow cobbled streets, traditional white houses and panoramic viewpoints create a peaceful and highly photogenic atmosphere.

The heart of the old town is dominated by the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Consuelo, instantly recognisable for its blue and white tiled dome, one of the most iconic landmarks of the Costa Blanca skyline.

Beyond its historic centre, Altea has a strong artistic and bohemian character, with art galleries, craft shops and a relaxed coastal lifestyle. Its seafront promenade offers the perfect place for a calm walk by the sea, enjoying Mediterranean views and a tranquil atmosphere.

GUADALEST

Guadalest is one of the most spectacular medieval villages in Spain, located inland and built dramatically on a rock more than 500 meters above sea level.

The historic centre, known as El Castell de Guadalest, is accessed through a tunnel carved directly into the mountain, revealing a unique village with breathtaking views over the valley and the turquoise reservoir below.

The village is dominated by ancient fortifications of Muslim origin, including the Castle of San José and the remains of the Castle of the Alcozaiba, which highlight its strategic medieval importance.

One of its most important heritage sites is the Casa Orduña, a 17th-century noble house that preserves original rooms, furniture and a historical library, offering a glimpse into the life of the aristocracy in the region.

Guadalest is also known for its small thematic museums and its extraordinary landscape, where mountains, water and cliffs combine to create one of the most photogenic places in the Valencian Community.
