Catalan Pyrenees

  • Travel material: backpack, clothes, sun cream, camera, etc.

Itinerary

Day 1 Departure from Valencia

We will leave around 14:00, so you don’t miss a day of work, but ask for a few hours of a working day. We will arrive in the evening.
Upon arrival we will have dinner in a very nice and cosy place and then we will go to our 3* hotel to rest.

Day 2Activities and Villages

On day 2 we have optional activities:
Rafting in the Pyrenees for the adventurous.
Boat ride for those who want to relax.

If you don’t want these activities you can visit two villages (Rialp and Llavarosi) with a small hiking route of 3 km in Rialp.

We will do rafting in the best place for rafting in the Catalan Pyrenees Llavarosi. This activity lasts 3-4 hours (extra cost 45€).
Paddle boat ride on a lake: Enjoying the views, relaxing on a lake (35€).
Otherwise we will visit Rialp and Llavarosi.

At the end of the activities we have lunch in Llavarosi.
And we leave to visit Baqueira (ski resort in summer, green and impressive view) and Arties, the most beautiful village in the Catalan Pyrenees.

In the evening we return to the hotel for a barbecue.

Day 3Day of hiking and vielha / Aran Park

The mountain route everyone has been waiting for, the Montcorbison route or similar. Medium-high level, with breathtaking views. It is also possible to do only half of the route and return to Vielha. We wake up early, got on the bus and set off to do the route. After the route, we have dinner in Vielha and go back to the hotel / or we go back to the hotel and have dinner in Espot (depending on the route).

If you do not want the route you can go to visit Aran Park, the wildlife park of the Aran Valley, surrounded by nature in its purest form. See bears, lynx, otters, wolves, marmots, deer and more in a semi-free environment. This optional activity costs €17.

Day 4Aiguestortes National Park and Departure

We will leave very early in the morning, we will go directly to the only national park in Catalonia, the National Park of Aigüestortes and Sant Maurici Lake.

You have two options:

  • Go with the taxis with a price of 11€ that will take you directly to the Park.
  • Walking, leaving at 8:30 a.m.

Then we will do the route to Sant Maurici Lake and we will do the Ratera waterfall (medium level, not too hard).
After the route with so many memories and phone full of photos, jokes and heart full of memories last beer and get on the bus to return to Valencia.

Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park (Day 1)

Vielha: Capital of Valle de Aran (Day 2)

Vielha, also known as “The City Between Mountains” (Vielha e Mijaran), is the essential village of the Catalan Pyrenees and the capital of the Aran Valley. Situated at nearly 1,000 meters altitude, Vielha is one of the largest towns in the area. Its rich architectural and cultural heritage make it a key Cultural Interest site in the Aran Valley. Visitors can explore its medieval churches, local museums, and traditional Aranese houses, all set against a stunning mountain backdrop.

 

Arties: A Gem in the Pyrenees

Arties, a charming village in the Aran Valley, sits at 1,144 meters altitude, just 7 km from Baqueira Beret ski resort and Vielha. At the confluence of the Valarties and Garona rivers, it was named one of the “Most Beautiful Villages in Spain” in 2023. Influencers adore its cobbled streets and houses made of stone, wood, and black slate. In the village center, visit the 16th-century Portolá manor house, once home to California’s first governor, Gaspar de Portolá.

 

Salardú: Another Gem in the Catalan Pyrenees

Salardú, a charming village in the Catalan Pyrenees, is located at 1,268 meters above sea level in the Val d’Aran. This mountain destination captivates visitors with its breathtaking landscapes, traditional stone houses, and rich historical heritage. One of its main attractions is the 12th-century Church of Sant Andreu, which houses an impressive Romanesque Christ figure, the Crist de Salardú.

Pic Montcorbison: A Paradise for Hikers

Medium-high level (optional) and half of it can be done with medium level.

Pic Montcorbison, accessible from Vielha, offers one of the best hiking experiences in the Catalan Pyrenees. With an altitude of 2,170 metres, this peak provides stunning panoramic views of the Aran Valley. The trail is well signposted and is suitable for hikers of all levels. A must for nature lovers, the Pic Montcorbison showcases the stunning beauty and tranquillity of the region.

 

Vall de Aran: The Atlantic Gem of the Catalan Pyrenees

Val d’Aran, the only Atlantic valley in the Catalan Pyrenees, offers high mountain terrain, impressive glacial lakes, top hiking routes, and unique culture and gastronomy. Located in Lérida, Catalonia, its capital is Vielha e Mijaran, also known as Viella or Vielha. Discover the charm and natural beauty of this exceptional region.

Cancellation policy

Cancellation policy for the trip to the Catalan Pyrenees: Up to 30 days 80% of the total amount will be refunded. Up to 3 weeks 60% of the total amount. Up to 15 days 50% of the total amount. Less than 15 days before the trip, we cannot refund any money unless it is due to government restrictions or health emergency. If you arrive late at the meeting point, we will not refund your money and you will lose it. The programme is designed with a lot of experience and guides but there may be changes due to traffic, weather or other better alternative (we will inform you by mail and WhatsApp group). The booking fee and activities are non-refundable.
