Barranc Moreno

Barranco Moreno is a captivating ravine nestled in the picturesque region of the Canal de Navarres. Its journey commences from the town of Bicorp, situated amidst the confluence of the Escalona River and the Caroche Massif, enveloped by the meandering formation of the ravine.

This remarkable natural site offers visitors two distinct experiences. The first involves an expedition to the furthest point, where ancient shelters adorned with captivating cave paintings, dating back approximately 7,500 years, can be discovered. The return journey, largely tracing the riverbed, unveils breathtaking vistas, serene pools, charming corners, and an overall scenic landscape, ideal for capturing stunning photographs. Of notable significance are the ancient shelters, notably the Calicanto shelter, adorned with visible samples of schematic rock art. These remnants serve as historical windows into the lives and artistic expressions of early inhabitants. Exploration of Barranco Moreno also includes visits to two cave houses, each telling a unique story—one impeccably preserved and the other, regrettably, in a state of disrepair. Additionally, within Bicorp, visitors can explore two fountains and a historic laundry facility, further enriching the cultural experience of the area.

You need to be physically fit to do the hiking route.

Should we bring our own food?

Yes, it is recommended to bring your own food because in most of the hiking places it is not possible to buy it.

 

What do I need to hike?

You can consult the section “what to bring” & “hiking description” where it will be clearly mentioned what you need for the excursion. You will also receive an email after the reservation  with detailed information.

Do I need to know how to use a map?

You don’t need to know how to use map, bacause the mountain tours have a professional mountain guide.

General Faqs

How/Where can I book?

You can book on the website or at our office in Plaza Honduras, 26 from 09:30 to 14:30.

Do I have to book in advance or can I pay on the day of travel?

Yes, it is necessary to book in advance, as we cannot guarantee that there will be places available on that day.

What are the cancellation policies?

In case of day trips (same day return):

  • Up to one week before the excursion 100% refund in the form of money or voucher for other excursions.
  • Until Thursday (20:00) of the same week of the excursion 100% refund in the form of a travel voucher.
  • After Thursday, no refund. 

In case of a trip of more than one day (Overnight)

  • Up to 1 month before: 100% refund
  • Up to 3 weeks: 80% refund
  • Up to 2 weeks: 50% refund
  • After 2 weeks: No refund

In case of no-show on the day of travel there is no refund, in case of late arrival at the meeting point there is no refund.

Where does the bus leave from?

Normally our buses leave from Avenida Aragón 31 (Mestalla). However, after booking, you will receive all the details with the ticket by email (please check your spam folder in case you receive the email immediately after booking).
