Prepare yourself for this impressive route, that intertwines the beauty of the mountains with history of Spain. Starting in Vilavella, this hike offers a splendid adventure, where you’ll see stunning landscapes and panorama views from the top of the montain and histrocial remnants.

Cruz de Hierro

The Cruz de Hierro is a white painted cross located on the peak of la creu de Ferro in the Valencian region of La Plana Baixa. The hiking trail starts in the town of La Vilavella. Here we find the foothills of the Sierra de Espadán, including La Creu de Ferro with an altitude of 537m.

The Sierra de Espadán is a natural landscape of the Valencian Community, its towering forests and cork oaks make this place one of the best places to live a great adventure.

The hike is taking you through the trenches and other remnants from the Spanish Civil War from 1936-1939.  The path advances between rocks and large blocks of rodenoand, with impressive views and ultimately el Cruz de Hierro.

Should we bring our own food?

Yes, it is recommended to bring your own food because in most of the hiking places it is not possible to buy it.

 

What do I need to hike?

You can consult the section “what to bring” & “hiking description” where it will be clearly mentioned what you need for the excursion. You will also receive an email after the reservation  with detailed information.

Do I need to know how to use a map?

You don’t need to know how to use map, bacause the mountain tours have a professional mountain guide.

How/Where can I book?

You can book on the website or at our office in Plaza Honduras, 26 from 09:30 to 14:30.

Do I have to book in advance or can I pay on the day of travel?

Yes, it is necessary to book in advance, as we cannot guarantee that there will be places available on that day.

What are the cancellation policies?

In case of day trips (same day return):

  • Up to one week before the excursion 100% refund in the form of money or voucher for other excursions.
  • Until Thursday (20:00) of the same week of the excursion 100% refund in the form of a travel voucher.
  • After Thursday, no refund. 

In case of a trip of more than one day (Overnight)

  • Up to 1 month before: 100% refund
  • Up to 3 weeks: 80% refund
  • Up to 2 weeks: 50% refund
  • After 2 weeks: No refund

In case of no-show on the day of travel there is no refund, in case of late arrival at the meeting point there is no refund.

Where does the bus leave from?

Normally our buses leave from Avenida Aragón 31 (Mestalla). However, after booking, you will receive all the details with the ticket by email (please check your spam folder in case you receive the email immediately after booking).
