ALICANTE

On the sunny Mediterranean coast we will explore the streets of Alicante, a wonderful city rich in history and hidden treasures.

It is the second most populated municipality in the Valencian Community and offers a perfect combination of modernity and historical culture. Here you can also relax on beautiful sandy beaches, renowned throughout Spain.

Come with us to discover the ancient castle of Santa Barbara, an essential landmark for tourists and locals alike. The castle overlooks the Gulf of Alicante at 166 m high and is the largest medieval fortress in Spain dating back to 1300. Climbing up to the castle you cannot miss the Santa Cruz district, one of the most characteristic neighborhoods of the city. Here you will get lost in the narrow streets and you will not stop taking pictures of the beautiful colorful and unique houses intertwined with each other.

In addition to the charming old town, you can visit the beautiful Basilica of Santa Maria, built over a former Moorish mosque, and the Renaissance Church of San Nicolas with the nearby Monastery of Santa Faz. Here you will find the chapel judged to be the most beautiful in the country in baroque style and the “Veil of the Veronica”, an ancient sacred relic.

At the end you will stroll along the famous “street of mushrooms”, to transform yourself into Alice in Wonderland, and also along the promenade of the Esplanade, which will enchant you with its beauty and its palm trees.

GUADALEST

Considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, Guadalest, a village with Muslim roots, will take you back to medieval times thanks to its cobbled streets.

Moreover, to enter the heart of the village, you will have to go through a tunnel in the rock of the mountain on which the castle is built: an impressive passage!

You will have to visit the Castle of Guadalest, the symbol of this village: it is located on the highest point, on a large rock and, before the Reconquest, it was a base for the Muslim troops. Today the fortress is in ruins due to two earthquakes, but you can still visit it and admire the beautiful scenery of the reservoir.

Finally, Guadalest is the town with the bigeest number of museums per inhabitant in Spain, e.g., the Museo Belén y Casitas de Muñecas, the Museo de Microminiaturas and the Museo de Saleros y Pimenteros.
