On the sunny Mediterranean coast we will explore the streets of Alicante, a wonderful city rich in history and hidden treasures.
It is the second most populated municipality in the Valencian Community and offers a perfect combination of modernity and historical culture. Here you can also relax on beautiful sandy beaches, renowned throughout Spain.
Come with us to discover the ancient castle of Santa Barbara, a ubiquitous landmark for tourists and locals alike. The castle overlooks the Gulf of Alicante at 166 m high and is the largest medieval fortress in Spain dating back to 1300. Climbing up to the castle you can not miss the Santa Cruz district, one of the most characteristic neighborhoods of the city. Here you will get lost in the narrow streets and you will not stop taking pictures of the beautiful colorful and unique houses intertwined with each other.
In addition to the charming old town, you can visit the beautiful Basilica of Santa Maria, built over a former Moorish mosque, and the Renaissance Church of San Nicolas with the nearby Monastery of Santa Faz. Here you will find the chapel judged to be the most beautiful in the country in baroque style and the “Veil of the Veronica”, an ancient sacred relic.
At the end you have to stroll along the famous “street of mushrooms”, to transform yourself into Alice in Wonderland, and also along the promenade of the Esplanade, which will enchant you with its beauty and its palm trees.
ELCHE
Elche, known as Elx in Valencian, is a city in the Alicante province of Spain, distinguished for its UNESCO-listed Palmeral of Elche, one of the largest palm groves globally. The city is renowned for its ancient Mystery Play of Elche (Misteri d’Elx), a religious drama dating back to the Middle Ages that takes place in the Basilica of Santa María. Elche also features a charming historic center, showcasing a mix of architectural styles, and offers visitors the chance to explore its cultural heritage, including archaeological sites, museums, and the picturesque Huerto del Cura garden. With its palm groves, cultural richness, and historical significance, Elche presents a unique blend of natural beauty and traditional Spanish culture.
